Claudia e Oscar

A short film reflecting a very special time at Fondazione Cardinale is coming soon.

Filmed at the last residence of Claudia Cardinale in Nemours, this short film follows her daughter, Claudia Squitieri, and her son as they wander through the house where the actress spent her final years. Surrounded by photographs, personal objects, and awards, they revisit memories embedded in the spaces of everyday life.

The film focuses particularly on the awards preserved in the house, above all the Golden Lion from the Venice Film Festival. As the family moves through the rooms, these objects become markers of a remarkable career while remaining part of a lived domestic environment.

In a humorous scene, Claudia Squitieri jokingly calls out of a window for the Oscar her mother never received. The film ends with Claudias’s son taking the Golden Lion and using it to crack open a walnut, turning a symbol of cinematic prestige into a simple family gesture. Shot on 16mm film, the work offers a small portrait of memory, family, and the material traces of a life in cinema.
